PICO, who has been developing a VR headset, has released a new headset Pico4 and challenged the entry-level VR market led by Meta Quest 2.

PICO explained that PICO 4 can be used as a standalone and all-in-one VR headset that can be used with PCs. In particular, the device adopted a pancake lens and implemented a thinner front part than PICO’s existing VR headset, and the weight was also lighter to 295g.
Since it is a single device, it is equipped with Snapdragon XR2 as its own processor and LCD with 2,160×2,160 resolution per eye. PICO, who insisted on a 105-degree field of view, explained that the user can enjoy a 4K+ screen with a high-resolution display with a 20.6ppd (Pixels per degree), a 1,200 PPI (Pixels per because), and a 90Hz playback rate.
Competition with Meta Quest 2, which has the highest market share in the consumer sector, is likely to be inevitable.
Both headsets use the Snapdragon XR2 headset, and in the ram, the quest 2 is 6 GB and PICO 4 is 8 GB. Thanks to the pancake lens, 295g of PICO 4, which is possible, is significantly lower than the 503g of Meta Quest 2. The official price of Korea was not disclosed, but PICO 4 was set at a lower price based on the European version. The US version is not yet available, and the PICO 4, which has been released by the euro standard, is sold for 429 euros and 256 GB models for 499 euros.
